First Day of School!

Another summer gone....the first day of school is today.

I took Hayleigh and Kirsten to their schools for open house on Tuesday. Hayleigh is now at the middle school and Kirsten is still in elementary. Hayleigh and Kirsten will not attend school with any siblings again. I don't know if that's good or bad!

As the girls and I were walking in to Cool Spring to find out who Kirsten has as her first grade teacher, Hayleigh asked her who she wanted. Kirsten told her the name of the teacher she would like and was SO excited when she found out she has her for first grade!! Kirsten put her fist in the air and shouted 'yes'! Then we went to Kirsten's classroom. She looked around and in a very disappointed voice said, "it's the same people as last year." I had to explain to her that all of the children she was in kindergarten with are now in first grade too!

Hayleigh has been a nervous wreck since she found out she has to change clothes for PE, change rooms for classes and she has to deal with a locker. She brought a map of the school home and traced her daily route several times.

Kirsten was a little upset this morning when she realized that Hayleigh was not going to be on the bus with her, but she got over it. Thank goodness!

Ethan and Dallin are taking the bus in the morning because early morning seminary doesn't start yet. They walked to the end of the driveway with Hayleigh at 7:30.

Things I Hate

I've debated putting up this post for a while, but then I figured, what the heck? It's my blog, I can put whatever I want on it!
So, in no particular order, here are some things I hate:
1 - The cows getting out. It really makes me stress.
2 - People talking to me about things I post here or on Facebook. To me it seems that since I posted it, the conversation about it is over. It's out there. It doesn't need to be discussed.
3 - Not knowing the outcome of things...like the scores of games or how a movie or book is going to end. I will read the ending first and if I like it, then I will read the book. It doesn't ruin it for me at all, even though people give me grief about it. I also DVR movies and will fast forward to the end to see if it's worth my time to watch the movie. Sitting at my kids' soccer games and track things can almost make me sick to my stomach...not knowing how it's going to end!
4 - The stupid 'tradition' of buying a 'smash' cake for a first birthday and taking photos of the birthday kid making a mess with it. It's just gross. And sticky and a waste of money.
5 - Dusting. and cleaning windows...nope, not my favorite things.
6 - Not having enough time to put my own house in order because my 'order helper' is helping everyone else.
7 - The days when I feel like everything I do is a waste of time because it's just going to get dirty/messy/dusty/slept in/muddy/whatever again anyway.
8 - When people make a statement and expect me to respond. I wasn't asked a question. If you were comfortable enough to make the statement, you don't need a yes/no/comment from me.
9 - People assuming I'm depressed because I like to be alone. Sometimes I just like my own company. I can read or scrapbook or watch a movie without someone saying "MMMMOOOOMMMMMYYYYY". It's kind of nice actually!
10 - THERE IS SPELL CHECK ON COMPUTERS FOR A REASON. For gosh sake, USE IT!

Okey-dokey. That's enough for now.

Shoulder problems

Darn it. Ethan was really looking forward to playing soccer this fall for school! But because he caused some damage when he dislocated his shoulder (several times recently), he is going to be having shoulder surgery in August. Before his MRI however, he and Dallin played in the Summer Scrimmages at West high school.

Fourth of July

Yes, I know today isn't the 4th of July...I wanted to post some pictures of what we did on the 4th...And don't be complaining about me not posting them no later than July 5th. I just didn't get to it! We went to a family friends' place in Hickory and had a BLAST! Even though it thunderstormed a little, at least it wasn't SO DANG HOT you were sweating just sitting still. I hate those days! The kids were able to swim in the Lake (Lake Hickory) and we watched a way better fireworks show than if we would've stayed in Statesville!

Kirsten's face when she jumped in and realized that even with the life jacket on her face still went under the water...

Hayleigh jumping in and floating around. She LOVES water!

Ethan playing with Kirsten in the water - check out those muscles Ethan has! yikes!

Dallin and Ethan playing around

Hayleigh and Kirsten jumping in (once Kirsten got used to the water!)

Kirsten in the water at sunset - love this pinkish color!
