Scout Camp post #1

Every summer for the past I don't even know how many years, Tim and the boys (who are old enough) go to Scout Camp for a week. Usually it's the same week as our wedding anniversary, but that's another story!

Last year, ALL of the boys went - Dallin was finally old enough to go too - and were scouts - this year all the boys went, but Kyle was a leader with Tim as he is too old to be a scout. Tim took the camera and got lots of pictures of the boys doing scout-y stuff.

Girls and Clothes

I found some cute clothes for the girls and they put on a fashion show for me (they meaning that Hayleigh decided to do it and Kirsten went along with it!) And just FYI - Hayleigh's head isn't permanently stuck that way.

Dallin and Hayleigh

These two have such a complicated relationship! They absolutely insist on playing together, but within 2 or 3 minutes they start to fight. We haven't figured out who REALLY starts it - not sure if it's Hayleigh teasing Dallin or Dallin getting Hayleigh mad, or maybe a combination of both things. Hayleigh's shrieks of "leave me alone" and "get away" are usually accompanied with Dallin's "I didn't do anything" and "she always tries to get me in trouble". So, we punish both - they both go to their rooms or sit and have a time out or we try to change the activity and get their attention elsewhere. BUT - then they complain they are bored and they want to go back to what they were doing!!! What the heck?????

Usually, I enjoy summer because I don't have to get up so early and pack lunches and sign school papers and write checks to the school for something that needs to be paid.......but this summer - I can't wait for the first day of school!

Blueberry picking

In between rain storms this morning, Hayleigh, Kirsten, Lyn and I went blueberry picking at a friend's house. Well, actually, Lyn and I went blueberry picking and the girls went 'exploring in the jungle'. Kirsten told Lyn to try a blueberry because it is 'tasty'. I think she might watch too many cooking shows with me!

Anyway, I ended up with a good amount of blueberries that I'll put in the freezer - they are so 'tasty' in pancakes, crepes and muffins all winter!!

Woke up this morning to the sound of......

THE COWS IN THE YARD!!!! Yikes!!! Apparently, they got out through the corral and decided that the yard looked yummy. I woke Tim up and then I went out back to keep them out of the garden. Too late! There weren't any cows in the garden, but I could tell they had been there - the poop and the hoofprints in the strawberries were a dead give away. Tim woke the boys up and then they walked them back in to the pasture. (and hopefully secured the corral panels to KEEP them in the pasture!) I am sure that I will be chasing the cows back in next week while Tim and the boys are at scout camp!!! That's just the way things go on a farm. If anyone is interested in the 'total' farm experience - complete with a rat invasion of the chicken house, cows getting out, and broken tractors..... let me know! You are welcome to come for a visit!

Bored or bewildered?

Did you ever have so much to do you give up and don't do anything?

There is SO MUCH around here that needs to get done - finish the renovation, Kyle's mission stuff (mostly fixing his teeth!), build a dock and bridge on the almost-empty-but-slowly-filling-up pond, the company's books (ugh), go through all the crap that I didn't know what to do with in the first place so I stuck it all in totes thinking it would be a good thing to do while watching movies, water the garden again, laundry, get the boys and Tim ready for scout camp, dishes (always), brakes on the dump truck, finding a box to send a wii remote in for service and then take it to fedex, etc........

It just never ends.

So, there are times when I look around, see that there's too much to do, and I get a glass of ice water and read a good book instead.....
