Barbies.....
Some of my most favorite memories of when I was growing up include playing with Barbies! I used to love to dress them up and make houses for them and do their hair and all kinds of stuff. Granny McVaugh went to a yard sale one time and bought some handmade Barbie clothes - they were beautiful! So beautiful, that after she saw them on the Barbies, she went back and bought the rest! I used to take all of my Barbies to Granny Pennings' house and play from Friday night through to Sunday night.
Brandee didn't care for Barbies. Or any dolls really. She was (and still is) more athletic and always wanted to do things rather than just play with a doll. I even saved my dolls and Barbies for my children, which I think Brandee played with occasionally out of obligation so I would feel better about having saved all of them (and then ending up with 5 boys!!!).
Hayleigh and Kirsten however, are Barbie fanatics! In addition to my stuff, my mom sent several Barbie gifts - dolls, shoes and clothes - for Hayleigh and Kirsten. They spend hours playing with them. It is fun to listen to Kirsten make up conversations between the Barbies. She will make them say things like "you need to clean up your room" or "it's time to leave for soccer. get in the van". Too funny!

The system
Yesterday as Kyle and Tim were going to the middle school for soccer, Kyle was eating yet another yogurt. Tim said, "I think you've had enough of those". Kyle said, "Let me tell you how it is Dad. You buy the food and I eat it. That's the way the system has worked for the past 18 years. Don't mess it up." I wonder if that's why I have spent so many years of MY life going to the grocery store??
